Between weather and the national pandemic of COVID-19, Rachel and Kevin finally had their long awaited romantic Purdue University engagement session! It seemed only fitting to return where their relationship began, and we had a blast exploring the campus together!

Rachel and Kevin first met at St. Tom’s, a church located on Purdue University‘s campus. They saw each other around with different ministry events, and they were both part of a group that walked back to campus together on Wednesdays after evening services. They told me during our first meeting that the walking home in a group casually became walking home just the two of them as time went on.
They had been hanging out alone studying but weren’t sure how to define it, but in November 2017, they made it official and the rest has been history! In September 2019, they were helping film projects for a friend at Turkey Run. Toward the end of one of their canoe rides, they stepped out on a bank and started dancing together. Their friend said they were going to do one more take, and that’s when Kevin spun her around, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife. Of course, she said yes!
Rachel and Kevin have also been in a long distance relationship since Kevin graduated from Purdue with his engineering degree last May. Kevin came down after work for the session, and we were able to roam around campus, hitting all their favorite spots with some stops along the way. As soon as we stepped foot on campus, we found the most amazing flowering trees that was the perfect starting spot for their session!
Just like most couples, they told me that they didn’t know what to do and would be awkward in front of the camera. But after we started, these two looked like supermodels, their love shined throughout all the images, and that’s what is most important and what I hope to capture in each engagement session. With COVID-19 pandemic breaking out just a couple months before their wedding, delaying their engagement session, we had to poke a little fun and bring out the face masks at the end of their session. These two laughed through it all, and I know they will continue that through their marriage in light of hard circumstances.
