2020 has certainly been a year full of sweet, squishy newborn babies, but being a bit bias, Baby Eliza’s lifestyle newborn session in Columbus has been my absolute favorite. We are so thrilled to finally have welcomed our sweet niece to the world, and it’s been so fun sharing in the joy of her birth with my sister and brother-in-law.

My recommendation to all of my clients is to schedule their newborn session between 3-14 days after baby is born, for optimal baby squishiness. But more importantly, it’s crazy how quickly your baby will change from the day they are born to their newborn session to a month after birth. I know when I delivered Eliza’s fresh 48 session, it was crazy to see just how quickly she had changed in the 12 days between sessions, but with scheduling both a Fresh 48 and Newborn session, they have preserved those sweet memories of their baby girl at both stages of her young life.
Amber and Kirk really love spending time at home together and are both laidback people, so a lifestyle newborn session was a perfect fit for them. We used their master bedroom for most of the session, because it was full of beautiful natural light, and we hung out in their living room to wrap up the session. Lifestyle sessions are perfect for capturing life just as it is with a newborn, so their session was full of snuggles on their bed, photos of just Eliza wrapped in a stunning wrap gifted to them, and feeding time for Eliza.
We went with the flow, and Eliza guided our session. If she wasn’t happy doing a certain thing, we’d switch it up, give her a break, change her diaper. These sessions are quite relaxed and allow us to really document what your new normal looks like as a family with a newborn baby. I love that we were able to capture all these memories for them to cherish forever, and they have something special to share with Eliza as she grows up.
