Engagement Photos at Sunken Gardens in Huntington | Naomi & Jose

When Naomi shared that capturing memorable moments was one of her top priorities, including the fun parts of the day they may not see, I was so excited to work with her and Jose! I had the honor of photographing their engagement photos at Sunken Gardens in Huntington, and now I’m even more excited to photograph their wedding this fall!

Naomi and Jose’s love story starts many years ago, back when Naomi first met Jose when she was 12 years old. He was best friends with her cousin growing up. As they got older and got to know each other more, they decided to start dating in 2017.

In October 2022, the two went to Mexico on a family vacation, which happened to fall on their anniversary. Jose proposed during their trip, and of course she said yes!

Naomi shared that she was surprised by the proposal, but she did have a hunch but her dad threw her off her suspicions. Naomi has her mom’s wedding bands, and in order to get an engagement ring that matched, they had to get the bands from Naomi. She had noticed the bands were missing, but her dad said, “I was trying to do something for your mom’s birthday,” so she didn’t think anything of it.

We celebrated their engagement with an incredible session at Sunken Gardens in Huntington, Indiana. They were looking for a location that was peaceful with some beautiful trees, and a coworker recommended this location for them. It was my first time at the gardens, but it was so stunning, it certainly won’t be the last!

I had a blast getting to know Naomi and Jose during their session; they have an amazing connection, and I wouldn’t have expected anything different after they have known one another for so many years. They are a stunning couple, and it was obvious how well Jose cares for Naomi. I loved getting to capture their interactions and love for one another!

As the sun set and we started to lose some of the light, we headed down a small creek that runs through the Sunken Gardens. The photos we took at the end of the session were some of my favorites, as Naomi had kicked off her shoes, I found a great tree to get creative, and they were both so relaxed and carefree.

After getting to know Naomi and Jose, I am even more excited to celebrate and photograph their wedding at Union 12 in October!
