Spring Engagement Photos in Winchester Indiana | Riley & Kiernan

Riley and Kiernan’s spring engagement photos in Winchester, Indiana were an absolute dream. While I love getting to know all of my couples through their engagement session, this one was particularly special for a few reasons.

Riley and Kiernan first met over 10 years ago at church camp, when Riley was 14 and Kiernan was 16. They realized that they had gone to the same church for most of their childhood without knowing it, and they quickly became friends who liked one another. They had dated for about a year in high school, but when Kiernan left for college, they both felt it was best to end the relationship due to their distance and busy schedules.

But fast forward to summer 2018, and Riley reached out to Kiernan on Snapchat. They went on their first date in May, and by the end of June, they were official and the rest is history.

On November 20, 2022, Kiernan proposed to Riley. He had spent time cleaning the house and setting it up so that Riley would have to look at the bedroom door. Throughout the day, he shared with her about how much he just enjoys their life together and looking forward to the future. Kiernan shared that when she wasn’t paying attention, he proposed and caught her off guard. But of course she said yes!

This engagement session was extra special for me because I taught at the high school that Riley and Kiernan attended, and Kiernan was actually a student in my English 11 class. I also happened to attend their church, and I went to a small group hosted at Riley’s grandparents’ house! I was thrilled when I saw an email from Riley about them planning their wedding and hoping to work with me. They are just a special couple, and it’s a blessing to get to watch their love story unfold.

While the temperature could have been a bit warmer, we had the perfect evening for their engagement session for late March. I’m a big fan of good light, but with no leaves on the trees yet, it can be tricky to navigate locations without much shade. But the lighting was perfectly golden, and you’ll see it just made for the most dreamy engagement photos!

Another reason why this session was so special was the location. We started at the Winchester Fieldhouse, which hosts the Winchester Falcons for basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. They both participated in athletics in this place, but even more special: they shared their first kiss outside along the brick wall. It was such a sweet memory to be able to capture part of their engagement photos in Winchester there.

We finished their session at Goodrich Park, and I really love the photos from our time there. The park features a couple of bridges that Riley liked, and some of my favorites come from a bridge completely drenched in evening light. Just wait for it!

I had a blast with the Riley and Kiernan, and I’m so excited to share some highlights from their engagement session! I was already looking forward to your wedding day, but I am even more so after your engagement photos! Thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer, and I can’t wait to celebrate you becoming husband and wife in October!
