Alexis and Josh first met at Purdue University with the help of mutual friends and a blind date set up to go to a barn dance together. They fell in love quickly after meeting, but with their graduation in 2018, they knew they were facing a long distance relationship. After a few months of long distance, Josh surprised Alexis in Lafayette and proposed to her in February underneath the bell tower on campus. Of course, with all the sentimental value to the campus, the two chose Purdue University for the location of their Lafayette engagement session.
While they admitted they only spent about seven months together on the campus, it is still a special spot to their relationship and their lives as they both graduated from Purdue. Alexis is currently working and living in Lafayette, so Josh made the drive down and made it a fun date night! We started their session at Purdue, and we could have asked for better weather after all the rain we have had this spring. The lighting was just perfect, and we had a blast walking around the campus together.
Their first official date was to Prophetstown State Park in Lafayette, so we drove out to the park together and had such a good conversation in the car together. I loved getting to know them better and hearing all about their plans for their October wedding. We visited the pavilion where they had their first date, and they brought a confetti popper and balloon – which was part of the gift I had sent them when they booked their wedding with me! It was so fun to incorporate those in for a few photos, too.
Thank you, Alexis and Josh, for choosing me to photograph your love story and be with you during this wedding planning process. I am so excited for the two of you, and I cannot wait to celebrate with you at your wedding in October. Enjoy your sneak peeks!
