Wes + Kevin’s Indianapolis Wedding at James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home

When Wes first moved to Orlando, Florida a few years ago, I don’t think he could have imagined it would lead to meeting Kevin, falling in love, moving back to Indiana, and getting married surrounded by their closest friends and family. But it became a reality, as Wes and Kevin’s love story developed, and these two were married in a gorgeous Indianapolis wedding at James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home earlier this month.

I first met Wes and Kevin photographing the Jones wedding in 2018, and Wes stood with Cassie as her best person. When Wes contacted me at the end of February, I won’t lie – I was super excited to hear they moved back to Indiana, were engaged, and planning their wedding!

Their first date was for burgers and a drink. From there, their relationship just naturally evolved, always feeling very comfortable and broken in. They both said they never felt like they had to impress the other, and after a while, they realized the other person wasn’t going anywhere.

Wes proposed to Kevin at Ball State University when they were back in Indiana for a visit. Later that fall, Kevin proposed to Wes through an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt that lasted all day, with the help of their friends. So when October finally rolled around, these two were ready to celebrate with their family and friends!

They started their day together with their wedding party at an Airbnb in downtown Indianapolis they had rented. It was a gorgeous old home with modern touches. I loved that Kevin and Wes wanted to spend the morning together with their best friends, and it made for some of the best getting ready photos as they helped each other make sure they looked their best.

After getting ready, we headed over to James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home for their portraits before the ceremony. We had the best weather the entire day, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location for their portraits. They had gorgeous brick streets next to the museum and lots of pretty landscaping that made their portraits amazing. Not to mention, Wes and Kevin had the best wedding party who was great at getting hyped and up for anything we suggested.

For the ceremony, Wes walked up first with his mom then Kevin followed with his mom. It was hard to find a dry eye during the processional and throughout the ceremony; you could tell that these two are deeply loved by their guests who were so excited for their next chapter. Kevin and Wes wrote their own vows to share with one another, which made their ceremony even more unique.

Finally, Wes and Kevin were married, going from bubbies to hubbies, as Kevin shared during the ceremony. Their Indianapolis wedding at James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home was absolutely beautiful, and I loved that it provided an intimate setting for their ceremony.

After family portraits at the museum, Kevin, Wes, and their families headed to celebrate with an amazing reception at Liter House. Their fairytale vibe reception was an absolutely perfect fit for the space!

After Wes and Kevin’s grand entrance and first dance, they served an amazing dinner, catered by Liter House, with some of the best macaroni and cheese I’ve had in my life. After dinner, they each shared a dance with their mom, honored their parents with a dance for them, then opened the floor for dancing with the anniversary dance.

As the night continued, the dance floor was never empty, as their friends and family kept the party going late into the night. With great music and wonderful friends, Kevin and Wes had a night to remember to celebrate their new marriage!

Wes and Kevin, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of such a beautiful day. It was such a joy and honor to capture your wedding and celebrate your love with your friends and family. I wish you both all the happiness and love in the world as you grow in your relationship and marriage. Enjoy your sneak peeks!
