When Meredith first contacted me to photograph Anne’s surprise party, I was thrilled. Shooting at this Traders Point Creamery event was one of the highlights of the fall season, because the property is absolutely gorgeous, making the venue truly a photographer’s dream.
As Anne and her family walked toward The Loft Restaurant at Traders Point Creamery, family and friends quietly slid into the dark side room of The Roost – the private party room at the restaurant. The hostess made her way up the stairs, and Anne’s daughter Meredith walked in first with her mother trailing behind.
Anne’s face slowly displayed her shock as her brain began processing what was happening at The Roost. With her jaw dropped and mouth wide open, family and friends began singing happy birthday as tears welled in her eyes. Tear-filled joyous greetings filled the room that afternoon.
One of my favorite moments from the morning was watching Anne reconnect with her sisters she hadn’t seen in quite some time. As you will see in one of the sneak peeks, just the gentle way her sister held her while Anne cried was so moving and beautiful.
Event photography is one of my favorites, and I love capturing that first moment that the shock overwhelms the guest of honor. Anne’s reaction didn’t disappoint, and Meredith did such a wonderful job pulling off the surprise.
It was my absolute pleasure to be able to be a small part of Anne’s special day. Enjoy the rest of the sneak peeks!
