Relaxed Bowman Extended Family Session | Kokomo Family Photographer

On a gorgeous Sunday evening as the sun began to gently set behind the trees, the Bowman family gathered at Crossroads Community Church for a special Kokomo extended family session. Jess, granddaughter to Jim & Iris Bowman, is a friend I met when I attended Ball State for college. We worked together in Teachers College for a while, and we have kept in touch through Facebook over the years.

Jess had mentioned that her family was looking for someone who could capture their family together for this special session, and I was thrilled to get to work with this amazing family. They all made me feel completely welcomed from the time I first met them, and by the end of the session, I was getting my photo taken with Jim & Iris before I left for the evening.

Throughout the entire session, I loved getting to watch Jim laugh and smile, while getting to observe a little bit of Iris’s sass with her children and grandchildren. These sessions give such an amazing opportunity for me to truly capture the spirit of the family, and the Bowman family was no different. Everyone was willing to relax and cut loose together, which I always love because we can capture your family exactly as they always are when they spend time together.

I also loved that even after 57 years of marriage, Jim & Iris didn’t shy away from showing affection to one another in front of their family. They were so eager to hold hands and give kisses, which just said so much about their love and their example for their children and grandchildren.

At the end of the session, Jim came over to me and said that it had been a long time since the entire family had been together. Afterward, he thanked me for bringing them together for an hour, which absolutely made my heart glow – just a wonderful reminder of why I do what I do. I capture your family exactly as they are, and we create treasured memories that become family heirlooms for years to come.
