With the Racines celebrating their youngest daughter’s birthday in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed only fitting to really celebrate her birthday with their Northwest Park Annex family session in Greenwood in June, including a cupcake smash.

I first met the Racine family back in the fall, when their original photographer was unable to photograph Emma’s 6 month session. I was so delighted when Lauren reached out again this spring about booking Emma’s 1st birthday session. We met at Northwest Park Annex in Greenwood, and it turned out to be a perfect spot. We were able to find a lot of shade to cover them on an otherwise bright day, and there was a bridge that was perfect for some walking photos and Emma’s cupcake smash.
Lauren did an incredible job again on styling them for their session, pulling in blue and yellow tones in all of their outfits. We made sure big sister felt included, too, with some great portraits of her during our session. The girls did an amazing job and were so cooperative the entire time!
Once the girls started to tucker out, it was time to pull out the cupcake and really celebrate Emma’s birthday. She wasn’t much of a smasher, but she did love the pink icing and had it all over her face by the end. Dad jumped in to assist and fed her parts of the cupcake to wrap up our time together.
Working with the Racines was a blast, and I love how laidback and easy going they are. The girls are sweet as can be, and I’m so excited to share more photos from their Northwest Park Annex family session!
