Makayla + Kurt’s Forks of the Wabash Wedding in Huntington

Kurt could have never known when he moved in 8th grade, he would meet his future wife on the first day of school. Now, many years later, they are husband and wife after their amazing Forks of the Wabash wedding in Huntington earlier this month!

Makayla first met Kurt riding the same bus, where her stop was right before his. Their last names kept them close alphabetically throughout high school, but they both graduated and went separate ways for college. One day, Kurt decided to contact Makayla to see how she was doing, and ever since, they have been inseparable.

Makayla and Kurt both started their day at Forks of the Wabash, on the perfect fall day. They shared a first look, and the way Kurt looked at Makayla seeing her for the first time was melted my heart. These two love to laugh together, and their joy radiated from them throughout the day.

Makayla had told me when we first chatted about their wedding that she was most looking forward to the reception on her wedding day. She said, “Since I was little, I have been planning the reception. I have never really been a party person, but that’s one party I’m excited about.” And for good reason – they had their closest friends and family there to celebrate their marriage, and that they did!

The couple’s first meal as a married couple was breakfast foods, which was a hit! Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes with syrup were all on the menu, and everything was homemade and delicious! I loved that their reception was laidback – just exactly what they wanted. I love when couples make the wedding day about what’s most important to them, which was spending time with their friends who had traveled many miles to be with them and enjoying the time they had together.
