As I sat in the waiting room waiting for my physical therapy appointment to begin, my phone buzzed with a new email alert. It was a message from Tricia. I began reading her email, and I laughed out loud because she was so open in admitting that she was contacting me totally last minute in search of a photographer to photograph their family in less than 48 hours… I could totally relate, and I knew I would get along with her immediately! She was inquiring about booking an extended family session in Indianapolis to take place at her in-laws’ house while the whole family was together for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Getting to spend my Black Friday with this gorgeous family instead of Christmas shopping at the crowded mall? Yes please!

As soon as I arrived, the whole family made me feel right at home. They showed me around the house, which was absolutely breathtaking, and we got to take a peek at the backyard to see if it would work for the photos. The weather could have ended up being more perfect – I mean, her kiddos were able to wear short-sleeved shirts! That hardly ever happens in November.
I had a blast hanging out with their family, and they definitely kept me on my toes with 13 of them and two dogs! But our time was full of love and laughter, which are my favorite things… plus doggy kisses.
2018 brought the largest number of extended family sessions I have shot in one year to date, and I love that! Having these photos as family heirlooms is so important, and I love that they will now have these images to cherish and pass on to the next generation… and I’m so grateful to have gotten to capture that for them.
Kreuter family, thank you again for inviting me into your holiday celebration and allowing me to capture you all together. It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly, and I hope you cherish these images forever.
