I crossed paths with the Racine family when their family photographer had a string of events that caused her to either find another photographer for her sweet family or postpone their family session until a later date… missing the fall window altogether. Lauren wanted to celebrate her sweet daughter turning six months old, so I was delighted when I got to step in and capture this Holcomb Gardens family session in Indianapolis this fall.

Their daughters are as cute as can be, and Lauren did an incredible job styling their outfits for this session. We really couldn’t have asked for a better fall day heading into the middle of November, where the lighting was what photographers dream of. We found this sweet little spot right at the entrance of Holcomb Gardens at Butler University, which gave us gorgeous light streaming through the trees and bringing the leaves that the Racines really wanted for their Christmas card photos.
While this session was to capture photos of their 6-month-old daughter and for Christmas cards, their oldest daughter stole the show. She has the most beautiful brown eyes and long eyelashes, it was like photographing a little doll baby the entire session. Not to mention she looked adorable in her denim jacket, dress and brown boots. She was just content sitting and smiling, but we did throw around some leaves at the end of their session. She giggled as she threw leaves at her dad and above her head.
We even snuck in a few of just mom and dad toward the end so they could have some updated couples photos. I know I say it every time, but that is such an important piece of the family session because the family started with just the two of them.
Racine family, thank you for allowing me to capture such a monumental time for your youngest daughter and to get these beautiful photos for your Christmas cards. It was an honor and such a joy to spend an afternoon with you. Hope we will cross paths again soon!
