On the most perfect October day, Haleigh and DJ were married in a gorgeous fall wedding at Legacy Barn in Kokomo, with their closest friends and family present. These two met five years ago, and after an incredible love story, they are starting the next chapter as husband and wife.

In 2016, Haleigh was working full time and didn’t have time to worry about meeting anyone. Haleigh’s best friend insisted that she let her set Haleigh up on a dating website. While she protested the idea, Haleigh made a deal with her friend to keep the profile up for one week. On the day she was going to delete it, DJ messaged her and asked what her favorite type of tree. She said that she found it as an odd question, but she loves willow trees and their conversation just continued from there.
DJ wanted to propose in a way where they could always visit on their anniversaries, so he popped the question while they were visiting McClure’s Apple Orchard. He had prepared a long speech, but the minute his knee hit the ground, he forgot it all because he said she just looked so amazing and he was at a loss for words. Of course, she said yes, and they finally tied the knot this past weekend!
They kicked off their day at Legacy Barn with the girls getting ready in the bridal suite, with hair and makeup from The Red Stiletto. I absolutely adore their team, and they always do such an incredible job on the bridal party. Haleigh’s party was no exception!
Haleigh and DJ chose to do a first look before their ceremony so they could spend more time with their friends and family celebrating at the reception. No surprise, DJ was totally blown away by how beautiful Haleigh was, and we had a blast getting some amazing portraits all over the Legacy Barn property. As we started their portraits, clouds began to roll in, making for the perfect moody skies for their fall wedding.
One of my favorite parts of their ceremony was their flower man, Nathan, and his grand entrance! With a fanny pack stuffed full of flower petals, he had all the guests laughing as he danced his way into the ceremony, leaving petals in his trail. Their ceremony was incredibly sweet, referencing the willow tree that first connected them, then they were finally husband and wife!
Nathan, their flower man, gave such a sweet toast after dinner, then the dance floor was full all night long with friends and family to celebrate this incredible couple! I had a blast dancing alongside them, too, until we said goodbye for the night.
Haleigh & DJ, thank you so much for allowing me to capture this incredible chapter in your lives — from engagement to marriage, it’s been such an honor to be a part of it. I’m so excited for you two, and I wish you nothing but a life of adventures and happiness! Enjoy the highlights from your day!
