Liz & Mike’s Garfield Park Conservatory Indianapolis Wedding

Through emotional and joyful vows, Liz and Mike pledged their lives to one another before their closest family and friends during their Garfield Park Conservatory Indianapolis wedding. On March 10, 2018 – almost a year from the day Mike proposed – 25 guests gathered around the waterfall in the Conservatory, where they supported Liz and Mike beginning their next great adventure: becoming husband and wife.

When Liz and Mike first contacted me, they had mentioned it was a quickly planned ceremony. In fact, they mentioned that they hadn’t even anticipate getting married this soon. However, when Mike’s father became ill, they began pulling together their wedding to take place in Indianapolis, while they planned the ceremony from Florida.

Sadly, Mike’s father passed away a couple weeks before the ceremony could take place. But his presence was clearly evident throughout the beautiful day; then in his vows to Liz, Mike shared that he wanted to model himself as a husband after his father’s example. I’ll admit that I had a hard time holding back the tears during their beautiful vow exchange, but I wasn’t alone; in fact, it was hard to find a dry eye in the room.

Liz and Mike incorporated unique details into their wedding, including: a pearl brooch Liz’s grandfather gave her grandmother on their wedding day; a gorgeous emerald green shawl Liz wore and fastened with her grandmother’s brooch; the pocket watch Liz had engraved as a gift for Mike on the wedding day; and a stunning wooden ring box.

The best part of small, intimate weddings is all the time we can devote to couples portraits. Wedding days go by so quickly, and it’s easy for couples portraits to get the least amount of time in a wedding day timeline. I love that I had about an hour with Liz and Mike to explore the Garfield Park Conservatory, because all the plants made for absolutely breathtaking photos of the two of them.

As we were leaving the conservatory after the wedding ceremony, Liz and Mike stopped to look at the tulip bulb sale to take a tulip bulb home to Florida to commemorate their wedding at Garfield Park Conservatory. They chose a beautiful peach and purple tulip bulb, and I can’t wait to see how it blossoms as their marriage begins to grow.

Liz and Mike, thank you again for the opportunity to be a part of your wedding day. It was such a blessing and honor, and I’m so grateful you chose me to capture your beautiful wedding day. Best wishes for a beautiful future together, pursuing all the adventures life has to offer.
