One year ago, I was meeting little Clyde for the first time for his newborn session. Now, just 12 short months later, I got to hang out with the Jones family again, but this time we celebrated his first birthday with a family session at Kokomo Reservoir.

One of the best parts of being a photographer is getting to watch families grow over the years. Marla and Jacob are longtime friends of mine (we are talking almost 10 years!), and it’s been such a joy to get to watch them fall in love, get married, grow their marriage and now their family with the birth of Clyde. When they reached out to me in February last year to take some photos for their pregnancy announcement, I was so excited to be a part of telling this chapter of their love story, and I’ve been honored each time they have chosen me since.
We met up at the Wildkat Creek Reservoir Park on one of the most perfect August evenings. The temperature was cool, the sun was drenching everything as it set beautifully over the water, and Clyde was full of smiles as we got started. Little man was a champ as we wrapped up past his bedtime, and he even let me hold him while we took time to capture some photos of mom and dad alone.
Marla did a fantastic job coordinating their outfits with a blue scheme, and she even brought along the “wild one” onesie that he wore for his first birthday celebration the weekend prior to our session. Clyde was just happy to crawl around and let me take photos of him, and we used his stuffed lamb toy to get him to send those beautiful blue eyes my way!
