Back in October, I received a totally exciting message from Alyssa letting me know she was engaged and asking about what dates I had available for Fall 2020 to photograph their wedding! We quickly worked to get their fall engagement session at Jackson Morrow Park on the calendar while we still had the beautiful fall leaves for their background.

While in college at Ball State, I had the opportunity to meet Alyssa’s older sister Jessica through one of my campus jobs. We continued to remain friends over the years, and I have even gotten to photograph their families a couple times – most recently, an extended family session with Alyssa and Jessica’s grandparents. During that session, they teased Pat mercilessly (and lovingly, of course!) on when he was going to propose to Alyssa, so I was thrilled for them both when I found out Pat asked her to be his wife!
Their love story began when a friend forced them to meet. While neither one of them were looking for a relationship at the time, that night they met, Alyssa said they didn’t want it to end. They met up the following night, with Pat driving up from Indianapolis to Kokomo to meet her again. She said that everything was just easy with Pat and he quickly became her best friend, which there is no better way to fall in love with your spouse than that!
When Pat proposed, he recruited the help of the same friend who initially introduced them, and their friend took Alyssa on a scavenger hunt in Indianapolis. Alyssa said that the hunt ended with Pat standing behind a tree when they went to take a photo, and he jumped out, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him.
I had a blast planning with Alyssa for their engagement session. They brought along their cute pup Vinny, who they added to the family earlier this year, and Alyssa dressed him with the cutest bandana for a few photos to get started. So if you are wondering if you can bring your furbaby… the answer is always yes!
These two were so easy to work with, and I loved that we still captured the beautiful fall foliage that Alyssa loves so much. It was an absolutely stunning fall day, and we had the best lighting for their afternoon session. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at The Legacy Barn in 2020!
