Delilah turns 2 on December 20, so to celebrate, her mama Brittany reached out to me to book her Kokomo dog photo session for her second birthday! I was so excited when she asked me to do this session, because my husband Ryan and I just recently adopted a sweet husky pup Aspen. We have fallen in love with her very quickly, so I could relate to Brittany and her love for Delilah.

Brittany and I quickly began planning their session for early December, and I loved getting little updates with a little surprise Brittany had put together for Delilah: a beautiful tutu. When the session date finally arrived, we were met with a sunny, warm December afternoon. We met at a local park and just allowed Delilah to explore while I photographed. Brittany and Delilah had some snuggles and walks together, too!
Delilah is a border collie who is so full of personality and energy, and she is the darn cutest thing! I loved getting to capture her running around and just being herself throughout the entire session.
Toward the end of our time together, Brittany put Delilah’s tutu on her for some more portraits before I brought out my surprise: a birthday cake for Delilah! I had mentioned it to Brittany when we first started chatting about the session, but I knew that if we were doing this session, we needed to really pull out all the stops. The cake was super easy to make with dog-friendly ingredients, of course, and Delilah loved it! Her favorite part was the “icing” – whipped topping – and she had to lick every bit of it off the top of her cake.
It was such a joy and pleasure to get to work with Brittany and Delilah and celebrate her second birthday with this little session. I hope you enjoy the sneak peeks, and happy birthday to Miss Delilah Sue!
