In the spring, Laura O’Donnell and Allison Crim took over leadership of Blye’s Bridal Shop in Kokomo and created a new modern experience for those shopping for any type of gown – bridal, bridesmaid, mothers dresses, homecoming, prom, and formal. Now named Blye’s Bridal Loft, designed to look industrial chic, they provide an experience unlike any other you will find around.
The Blye’s ladies created an ambassador program where local high school girls can represent the store by sharing about the amazing dresses and accessories they offer. To kick off the fall season, these high school girls – dubbed Blye’s Beauties – were then invited to participate in their Homecoming and Prom Fashion Show on Sept. 7.

The girls were able to come in a couple days before the show to choose a homecoming dress and formal gown to wear during the show. On Saturday, they got dolled up and picked out shoes from Blye’s current inventory. The girls did a great job picking very unique pieces to wear during the show, and they did a great job modeling – though most wouldn’t say they have a history of modeling!
Banner Flower House in Kokomo graciously donated all the florals the girls used during the show. The pieces they pulled together, including stunning floral cuffs for corsages, bouquets, and headpieces, really added so much to the show.
I loved getting to know them a little bit while they milled around getting ready; they were all so sweet and full of energy. The audience began arriving, and the girls finished primping for their big debuts. Allison was the emcee for the event, and she did a fantastic job organizing and leading the show. They had a great audience turnout, and guests enjoyed refreshments and shopping after the show.
It was such a privilege to capture this first in the new chapter of Blye’s history, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow in the years to come!
