Aubrey + Taylor’s Elegant Backyard Wedding in Kokomo

On the most perfect June evening, Aubrey and Taylor were married in an elegant backyard wedding in Kokomo, surrounded by their pups, family, and closest friends.

Their ceremony and reception took place at Taylor’s grandparents’ beautiful home outside of Kokomo, with a pond and gorgeous mature trees around the property. I loved getting to explore the perfect spots for their portraits, and the pond really made for a stunning backdrop.

The day started with Aubrey returning from getting her hair and makeup done. Her friends and sisters gathered in the master bedroom while they finished getting ready for the day. When Aubrey slipped into her dress, her friends lit up from how beautiful she looked. She slipped on her boots, and she was ready to see her groom at the altar.

It was very apparent how much these people truly love Aubrey and Taylor. They all worked to bring their wedding vision to life, and it turned out perfectly. Taylor’s grandparents have an outdoor pavilion on the property that was perfect for the head table and dance floor, and the ceremony took place right by the pond and fountain.

They also made sure to include their dogs Lana and Harlow in the entire day, along with a couple other dog friends. They were all so well behaved!

Aubrey and Taylor opted to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first time, and they exchanged sweet personal vows that they wrote.

The reception kicked off with dinner catered by Jefferson Street BBQ, which was absolutely delicious. It is one of my favorite local restaurants, so I was so excited when I saw them on their vendor list.

Once dinner wrapped up, Shelby, matron of honor, and Nichols, best man, gave their toasts. Chris, Taylor’s father, wrapped up the toasts with one I may never forget. He was talking earlier in the day, and I picked up on the fact that Aubrey had been a student in his class in high school.

He shared in his speech that this student came in on the first day and sat right at the front row. He was a little shocked by that, because typically students will try to sit as far back as possible. One day, somehow they started going around the room asking Chris to share one word to describe each of them. He had finished going around the room, and there was one student left — the female student sitting in the front row. He said he couldn’t do it, but they egged him on. Finally, Chris said, “Now don’t repeat this to my son, but you’re the kind of girl I want my son to marry.”

Fast forward many years later, Chris saw his dream realized — he saw his son marry that girl. I could barely choke back the tears when he finished; what an incredibly special story.

After cake cutting and anniversary dance, the dance floor opened, and everyone continued dancing into the night to celebrate such a beautiful wedding day for these two.

Aubrey and Taylor, thank you so much again for the opportunity to capture this perfect day that starts the next chapter of your lives.
