On a rainy Saturday afternoon, Amanda and Skyler vowed their lives and love to one another in their stunning Old Mill Village wedding in Fremont, Indiana. These two have been waiting quite some time to become husband and wife, and no amount of rain or world pandemic could stop them from having their dream wedding day!
Amanda and Skyler first met when their married friends set them up on a blind date. They clicked immediately, and they continued to grow their love and family until Skyler proposed. Of course, Amanda said yes, and they began planning their wedding for August 2019. They found out they were expecting their third boy, Cooper, and postponed their wedding until this August.
They chose The Old Mill Village in Fremont, Indiana, which was a new venue for me. Located near the Indiana/Michigan line, this venue was a bit of a mystery to me initially. I had a hard time finding photographers who had photographed weddings on their property. Then the weather gave us rain forecast for the entire day, so we stepped up to the challenge to be creative and find spaces to create gorgeous images for these two without getting everyone soaked before the ceremony.
Amanda and her bridesmaids got ready in a cute yellow house on the property, and the front porch made for a lovely backdrop for her detail photos. She chose a gorgeous color palette of blush, wine, and charcoal gray, which made for stunning decor throughout the venue. The Old Mill Village has multiple buildings on the property, and that allowed Amanda and Skyler to both be able to get ready on site with their friends before the ceremony.
They had the most touching first look in a darling garden space outside where Amanda got ready. The rain had subsided enough that they could fully enjoy being outside together and have a few quiet moments alone. I absolutely loved getting to capture these quiet moments for the two of them, and Skyler teared up when he turned around and saw his stunning bride for the first time.
With the multiple buildings, the property offered a ton of coverage for us to keep them from getting soaked during their portraits. But we did embrace the rainy day by taking some clear umbrellas out for a few portrait shots before the ceremony. The two of them had a blast with their wedding party, who definitely brought the fun to this wedding day!
As the rain continued to fall leading up to their ceremony, the couple opted to have their family and friends sit covered by the porch awning outside of their reception area while they chose to share their vows under a canopy of trees. While it wasn’t exactly the outdoor ceremony they originally imagined, it was such a special moment where they committed their lives to one another and shared that moment with the people who mean the most to them. I loved that they had their three boys – Brayden, Dominic, and Cooper – as ring bearers, as Brayden rolled the two younger boys in a white wagon down the aisle.
Amanda and Skyler’s reception was one of the most fun I’ve been to in a long time. Their friends were quick to join them on the dance floor, and the DJ kept the music hopping all night long. We were able to sneak away for a few minutes to enjoy the last bit of light before leaving for the evening and they were some of my favorite portraits from the day!
We had a blast celebrating with Amanda, Skyler, and their wedding party, and I’m so excited to share some sneak peeks from their day at The Old Mill Village. Thank you both for choosing me to capture this season of your lives and to be a part of your beautiful wedding day! I hope you enjoy the photos and look back on what a perfect day you had with your family and friends. Best wishes to you both as you begin the next chapter of your lives as Mr. and Mrs. Slone!
