Indianapolis Horse Pasture Engagement Session | Heather + Jason

When I first met Heather and Jason, I felt like we hit it off right away. We met at Starbucks to chat about their wedding day, only a few months away, and all the details they were still looking to plan. They shared that they would be getting married in one of their horse pastures, then having a tented reception in the other pasture. I love when couples make the wedding all about what will make them happiest on the day they exchange their vows and become husband and wife. But the best part was when they shared they really wanted to do their engagement session in the same spot. So after a few weather postponements, we shot this gorgeous Indianapolis horse pasture engagement session with Heather and Jason just in time for their wedding in June!

Heather and Jason first met at Purdue in 2010 through mutual friends while they were both attending there for college. After a night of dancing together at the Neon Cactus, and as they said, the rest has been history. Heather works as an equine vet, and Jason works at Purdue as a research engineer. Our original plan was to shoot their engagement session on their day off, but the weather had other plans for us. Instead, we were greeted with a gorgeous, sunny evening around their five-acre property.

Since we photographed their engagement session right where they are getting married, it gave us a great opportunity to talk through the logistics of the day. I love getting to help couples with the planning of the wedding day, especially since most of my couples have never planned a wedding. It can be hard to envision the timeline and all the details and how they will come together perfectly, so I’m always here as a support for my couples for whatever they may need.

These two had great outfits picked out, and the property made for the best backdrop for their session. The best part? It was right in the backyard of their first home so these images will be treasured by both of them for the rest of their lives; there is so much meaning in these photos we captured, and I’m so excited to share them!

We were able to incorporate their two horses and puppy into some of the photos, while Heather and Jason kept each other laughing throughout the entire session. I loved getting to hang out with these two, and I’m super excited for their wedding this June! Enjoy their Indianapolis horse pasture engagement session photos!
