When Ryan and I first planned our trip to Seattle, I knew that I wanted to book a couples session while we were there. The scenery in Washington State is absolutely breathtaking, so I knew it would be the perfect time to update our photos, as well. After reaching out on Facebook in a photographer’s community, I connected with Joshua and his fiancé Regan for a couples session swap. Since they are getting married in New Zealand this fall, this was the perfect opportunity for a Seattle WA engagement session for them!
Since Joshua and Regan live in the same area as our friends we stayed with, they graciously picked us up and we drove up to Gold Creek Pond in Snoqualmie Pass. We had discussed a few different options before we arrived in Seattle, but when Joshua told me that this area would give us mountains, beautiful green trees and water, I was totally sold… especially with the opportunity to be photographed in front of mountains!
We spent a couple hours there in the morning, and it was definitely a different time than I traditionally photograph, it was a blast getting creative with lighting and locations for their photos. Plus it was just fun to hang out with the two of them while we explored Gold Creek together.
At one point, we tried to go off the beaten path to go down to a river that they like to explore. But while Joshua walked away, he said, “You guys know what to do if you see a bear, right?” It’s definitely a different scenery out in Washington than Indiana with all sorts of new adventures for the two of us!
Joshua and Regan, thank you so much for being willing to meet with us, hang out with two complete strangers, and capture some amazing portraits of the two of us. It was such a joy to get to capture your engagement photos, as well, in such a beautiful place! Here’s to hoping our paths cross again someday! Best wishes on your wedding in September and enjoy New Zealand!
